Intro to Health and Fitness
What does it mean to be healthy and strong? Our Intro to Health and Fitness course trains students to become the best version of themselves inside and out. These students master the foundational skills, form and science of strength training, build better lifestyle habits, grow in nutritional knowledge and work on their communication and leadership skills by learning to coach and encourage others.
Ages: 9th-12th grade
Frequency: 2x per week: Wednesday classes are always in person in a gym setting. Monday classes will be either in-person outdoor sessions or virtual workouts to do at home depending on season and weather. More information coming soon about dates and locations for in-person Monday classes. No extra gear needed for at home workout challenges, students will be assigned guided video workouts to follow anywhere.
Some tuition assistance available through Niles, Hamilton, and JIA Partnerships/Virtual Schools
Why Health and Wellness?
Get STRONG: Every class day involves some type of hands-on workout! Get ready to sweat and lift in class as well as with an additional weekly at-home fitness challenge!
Leadership Opportunities: The 2nd semester of this class is all about practically implementing all the fitness training we've covered by creating personalized training programs for a variety of people with different goals and learning the soft skills necessary to coach others through these programs.
Quality coaching: You-Tube tutorials and workout videos can be fun, but there is nothing like personal feedback from an expert! Our coaches provide group instruction that allows each student to progress at their own pace while learning proper technique, following progression steps and building the fundamentals to get students started on the path to success!
Community and Accountability: Consistent fitness training is hard work! By being a part of the class community, our students celebrate every goal, push each other to work harder and hold each other to be accountable to the personalized goals they've set
